Figure 6: Effect of the AMPK inhibition by compound C (CC) for 20 h in human sperm motility coefficients. After isolation by density gradient, human sperm were incubated at 37°C in the absence (unfilled bars) or presence (filled bars) of AMPK inhibitor CC (30 μmol l−1) during 20 h. Following motility coefficients were evaluated by the ISAS system: (a) Number of motile spermatozoa with progressive motility, expressed as % of total sperm, (b) amplitude of lateral sperm head displacement, expressed in μm, (c) linearity expressed in % and (d) beat cross frequency, expressed in Hz. This experiment was performed at least six times and results express the mean ± standard error of the mean. Statistical differences were considered when P < 0.05: histograms with different letters (a-c) are statistically different from each other. ISAS: integrated semen analysis system, ALH: amplitude of lateral head displacement.
